Happy Memorial Day!

This weekend we practiced being parents by getting up before 7am every day of the long weekend (actually, for parents of a newborn, that would probably be sleeping in from what I hear...maybe we'll skip the practice and enjoy the sleeping until the real thing!). Our early morning risings were all for fun events - golf for Cory, farmers' market for me - and we were amazed at how much a person can accomplish before noon when you get up at the same time as you would during the work week! On Sunday we went downtown bright and early to cheer on my dear friend Sarah as she completed her very first marathon! The heat was unbelievable, and the race officials actually closed the course after about 4 hours due to extreme conditions. Sarah persevered and we were proud to cheer her efforts as she crossed the finish line! bb (and bb's mom) is not a fan of the heat, so we tried to hang out in the shade and drink plenty of liquids.

Today we went to pick up a few more items for the nursery, so hopefully I'll be able to post more pictures soon as we continue to decorate!

We passed!

Six weeks have flown by and we completed our final baby class this past Sunday. They gave us a certificate of completion, but I'm still wondering when someone will give us the baby instruction manual...maybe that is your parting gift as you leave the hospital?!?

Belly Waves

In the past week, I've really started to notice bb moving around. Sometimes it looks like my whole belly is doing the wave. It really makes me wonder what he is up to in there...somersaults? Boxing? Practicing his dance moves? Developing a baby fitness routine? Whatever he is up to, I hope it is helping him grow strong to be ready to meet us all in about 2 months!

Cory also has had to be strong lately, since his wife has not been able to be much help in furniture-moving projects. Here the cats helped provide encouragement for him to get the dresser/changing table up the stairs:

Aquatic Seals

I've been participating in a prenatal land/water aerobics class twice a week since about week 14. Having nothing else to compare to, I think it has been a huge differentiator in helping me feel good during pregnancy. Not only is the water fabulous for helping a person with an ever-growing belly feel light and agile, it has also been very therapeutic to meet other soon-to-be moms and learn from each other along the way. Recently we decided that we should be like a synchronized swim group (most of our "moves" are in synch) and have a catchy name...aquatic seals seems to be the winner. The class is actually held at a senior center, and we had some other marine animal name ideas if the hip replacement or knee replacement class is looking for a name as well. It is a regular circle of life scene in the locker room each time, as the rehab class before us finishes and all of us pregnant ladies waddle in to change for our class.

Not going to post any swimsuit pictures on this blog, but here is a picture of 3 and 1/2 generations that Cory took on Mother's Day when we were back home at Mom and Dad's (and yes, I only have one maternity dress right now, so this may look familiar...I think I may use the shower coming up in June as an excuse to expand my wardrobe!).

More Progress...

The preparations continue...Cory assembled the crib last weekend (with help from the cats, of course!)
